Killer Joe - 34D.
I was very excited about this movie when I first saw the trailer. Then I heard there were some issues because of a controversial scene and now the film was NC-17, which had me more excited to see it.
It was pretty great. Matthew McConaughey was incredible. Juno Temple was wonderful and gorgeous and now I’m in love with her. Thomas Haden Church was great. Emile Hirsch was great. Gina Gershon was great. A lot of good acting. I can’t stress how amazing McConaughey was. Especially during the “controversial” scene.
A dude (Hirsch) is in big money trouble and some bad guys are going to kill him. So he goes to his dad (Church) and says he wants to hire someone to kill his mom (dad’s ex wife) and collect the insurance money. Killer Joe Cooper (McConaughey) is a cop sometimes and a killer for hire other times. He wants the money up front but they don’t have it. No exceptions. Until he decides he’ll take his sister (Temple) as a retainer.
Things don’t go smoothly. They get pretty crazy. Messed up weird and wonderful movie.
Seriously though. Juno Temple, if you’re reading this? I Love You.
